Ms Gala Mustafa

Kurdish-born Gala Mustafa is the first hejab-wearing Muslim woman to join the Commission.

A resident of Mount Gambier, Gala’s appointment increased the number of regional members on the Commission to three. She is Convenor of the Commission's South East Regional Advisory Committee.

Gala has a Bachelor of Science from Baghdad University.

She is a member of the Mount Gambier Hospital New Arrivals Committee; S.A. Government Muslim Reference Group; Mental Health Consumer Taskforce, Tension Woods College Board, Mount Gambier Community Forum, Mental Health Council of Australia (Canberra), Mount Gambier Museum, and Women’s Health Advisory Group.

She is the Co-Chair of the South East Consumer Mental Health Advisory Group, Deputy Chair of the Rural Australia for Refugees and a financial member of the Limestone Coast Multicultural Network.
