Ms Maria Barredo

Maria Barredo was born in the Philippines and migrated to Australia in 1988.

She has a Bachelor in Nursing from the Philippines and a Masters in Nursing from the University of South Australia.

She also has a Grad Dip in Theological Studies from Flinders University.

Maria, who also lived in Iran, where she worked as a Registered Nurse, speaks several languages and considers herself a multicultural practitioner.

She has worked as coordinator of community development and settlement programs at the Migrant Resource Centre, as director of multicultural services at the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide, and currently as manager of community services at the Federation of Polish Organisations in SA.

Maria is a partner in the consultancy Barredo Holland.

Maria serves on several Boards and Committees. Currently she is a member of the Australian Refugee Association Board, member of the Royal Adelaide Hospital Consumer Advisory Council and of the GP Plus Health Network.  

Maria is a strong advocate for migrants, and refugees, and most particularly, women. She provides a strong voice for recognition of the contribution of women and women’s leadership role.
