What Cannot Be Funded Under the Grants Scheme

These projects are not eligible for funding:

  • projects for which there are more appropriate funding sources;
  • projects by organisations established for profit or financial gain to members;
  • food and drink;
  • functions, excluding not-for-profit festivals, that charge an entrance fee;
  • continuing social and club activities for which members’ subscriptions provide a more appropriate source of revenue (e.g. balls, social functions, celebration of religious or political events);
  • activities of government agencies;
  • continuing costs of newsletters, magazines and radio stations;
  • large capital items that would exceed the maximum amount available;
  • projects that duplicate existing services available to the community;
  • concerts and costumes;
  • participation in interstate events;
  • salaries/wages, except for up to 50% for those associated with Major Festivals, Major Projects and Events or a Major Community Development Grant;
  • religious or political activities;
  • building or renovations;
  • musical instruments;
  • prizes or competitions;
  • English language/English conversation classes;
  • retrospective funding for any functions or services;
  • fundraising, other than for South Australian ethnic or multicultural organisations.
